We’re just a few days away from our much awaited Wild About Nature Festival! Mark your calendars for Saturday, April 6, 2024, because it will be jam-packed with outdoor excitement from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. This nature extravaganza event is located at Bay Preserve and nestled along the stunning shore of Little Sarasota Bay. It’s your chance to dive headfirst into the wonders of the natural world! Bring the whole family and get ready to make memories as you embark on a journey of discovery. From kayaking to tree climbing, animal interactions to face painting, crafts to games, there’s something for everyone, no matter your age or adventure level.
On April 17, join us for our April Lunch and Learn from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. Explore our role in protecting the places that matter to our community. It’s an opportunity to delve into the importance of conservation and learn how you can make a difference in our environment. During this two-hour presentation, we’ll discuss the history of our organization, programs, past and present initiatives, and ways for you to become a part of our conservation community. As a special bonus, we’ll take you on a guided tour of Bay Preserve after lunch.
Challenge your mind and unravel the mysteries of the natural world at our Family Nature Trivia Night. Taking place on April 20, from 4:30 pm – 6:30 pm, this event is perfect for children and their families to connect with nature, make new friends, and create lasting memories. Test your knowledge of ecosystems, plants, and wildlife while having a blast with your loved ones.
Join us on April 26 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Celery Fields Audubon Nature Center for an afternoon of artistic exploration, hosted by Conservation Foundation and Sarasota Audubon Society! We’re excited to kick off our first kid-focused artist day in collaboration with the Sarasota Audubon Society. This special event features various activity stations where children can creatively learn about the world around them. Conservation Foundation representatives will be present to answer any questions about our crucial land-saving efforts, while Audubon representatives will ignite a passion for birding.
For those eager to explore the beauty of spring wildflowers, join us on April 27 for a naturalist-guided hike at Old Miakka Preserve. From 9:00 am to 10:30 am, we’ll meander through the preserve, stopping to observe and identify native wildflowers along the way. Learn about the pressures facing these plants and discover resources for growing a native garden at home.
Finally, to close the month, we have our Habitat Scavenger Hunt on April 30, from 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm, at the headwaters of the Myakka River. Embark on an outdoor adventure and uncover the wonders of nature as you participate in an interactive scavenger hunt. It’s a fantastic opportunity to learn, explore, and have fun in the great outdoors.
