Community Education Program

Created in 2022, our Community Education program provides memorable, equitable nature experiences to individuals from all walks of life. The idea was born after our conservation community requested more opportunities for adults and families to explore and connect with the unique nature of Florida. Initial funding for the program was provided by a Gulf Coast Community Foundation grant in support of their Climate Change and Environmental Quality priority.

We now offer a wide variety of opportunities covering a broad range of topics and interests through this experimental education program.  Whether it’s a kayaking excursion on Little Sarasota Bay, an after-dark sensory experience at Bay Preserve, or an early morning investigative outing at Myakka Headwaters Preserve, our Community Education Manager provides high-quality outdoor experiences to individuals of all ages and experience levels with a goal to connect our community to nature and facilitate a deeper understanding of local habitats, wildlife, and our delicate relationship with the natural world.

Program activities are offered on a rotating basis, with each date accommodating a limited number of participants. View upcoming programs and events here

Our Community Education Manager also provides one-of-a-kind experiences in nature to private and community groups. To learn more about scheduling a private outing for your group, please email Sarah Denison Williams
