Big Waters Land Trust announces second annual Community Art Show honorees

OSPREY, FL (June 10, 2025) Big Waters Land Trust is excited to announce the juried selections and winners of their second annual Community Art Show. Following the success of last year’s inaugural contest, this community exhibition continues to provide a platform for artists to share their unique perspectives on Florida’s natural beauty. Artists of all ages and experience levels were invited to submit their original work showcasing the beauty of nature for jury consideration. 20 pieces were selected for inclusion in this year’s show.

The 2025 jury includes artist Danica Konatar, a renowned illustrator whose evocative Florida landscapes capture the state’s unique beauty; Lauren Marshall, an acclaimed painter and illustrator recognized for her dynamic and expressive portrayals of the environment; and Tim Jaeger, an award-winning artist whose nature-inspired works offer a deep connection to Florida’s natural world.

When making their selections, jurors evaluated submissions on how well the artist showcased nature, their use of color and texture, attention to detail, and the overall composition of the piece. Artist names were omitted during the selection process. In addition to selecting which artwork would be included in the exhibit, jurors awarded a Best in Show winner and three merit award winners.

The jury-selected winners for the 2025 Community Art Show are:

·       Best in Show: Downriver Pickers by Mark “Marco” Bell

·       Merit Award: Dune Walk II by Monica Spain

·       Merit Award: O’ Leary’s Shallows by Mark “Marco” Bell

·       Merit Award: Play of Light and Shadow by Nancy Hielscher

The exhibit may be viewed at Big Waters Land Trust headquarters, 400 Palmetto Ave, in Osprey, Monday-Friday, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, June 5, 2025 – August 31, 2025. For questions or to check appointment availability, please call our office at 941-918-2100.
